Benefits for Courseware Providers
The ACT Center network offers a unique market opportunity for courseware providers and developers. Our courseware repository will have seven major workforce development categories and numerous subcategories to meet the training needs of businesses and individuals. Dozens of providers are already working with the ACT Center network to become a part of this repository. While we want to offer our host institutions and their clients a broad variety of courseware, we also will limit the number of vendors in each category to promote sales and not overwhelm users.
Affiliating with the ACT Center network provides the following benefits to courseware providers and developers:
- Critical mass distribution. More than 250 community colleges have already been targeted as potential ACT Center host sites. Other colleges, and in some cases entire state college systems, have asked to join the growing ACT Center network. We anticipate there will be 300 to 500 ACT Center locations open in the next few years. All of these sites will use the ACT Center courseware repository.
- The ability to access small and medium-size businesses. ACT Center locations will focus marketing efforts on the small and medium-size businesses that employ more than 80 percent of the nation's workforce but may not have adequate access to workforce development training.
- A customer base of many thousands. Companies rely on their local community colleges to assist them with workforce development needs. And each college has a large customer base with established business relationships. ACT Center staff will be able to show local businesses how your courseware can meet their needs.
- A physical site coupled with virtual delivery capability. Web-based courses will be deliverable anywhere and anytime with appropriate technology and connectivity, as well as through the ACT Center sites.
- A credible environment. Each college is a respected institution within its local community. College faculty and development experts can supplement your courseware or build programs to meet the specific training needs of a variety of companies.
- A sales force of several hundred trained people. Every ACT Center will have at least one person with primary responsibility to market ACT Center services and courseware. ACT will provide that individual with training on how to sell ACT Center services. Through the ACT Center network, you could essentially expand your courseware sales force by up to 250 people.
- Management support. ACT is hiring 15 regional managers to support sales efforts.
- A marketing effort. ACT Center sites are required to develop a detailed business and marketing plan as part of their start-up process. This plan is approved by ACT before the site opens for business.
