Senior Vice President for Research
and Development Named
Cynthia B. Schmeiser has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president, research and development, in the ACT Education Division. In this new position, Schmeiser will play a leading role in formulating goals, strategies, and plans to ensure the continued vitality of the programs and services administered by the Education Division; work with the chief executive officer and the president/chief operating officer to expand the divisions business line; and ensure that ACTs development and research agendas are compatible and supportive of activities in both areas.
Since joining ACT in 1973, Schmeiser has held a number of positions. For the past 17 years she has been vice president of development. Prior to that, she served as assistant vice president and director of test development, contract programs department; assistant director of test development, resident programs department; and research psychologist, resident programs department. Schmeiser holds a doctorate and a master of arts degree in educational psychology, measurement, and statistics, as well as a bachelor of arts in psychology and elementary education, from The University of Iowa.
