ACT National Youth English Communication Show Held in Shanghai


Contestants (above) participate in a debate during the 2010 ACT National Youth English Communication Show winter final held earlier this year in Shanghai. The annual event offers Chinese students the opportunity to demonstrate their English speaking and comprehension skills. There are two sets of finals—junior high and senior high school students compete in a winter session, and primary school students compete in a summer session. More than 300 junior high and senior high school students from 20 provinces in China competed in the winter final. They had advanced from an original pool of approximately 200,000 contestants, who participated in competitions throughout the year leading to the final contest.

Indonesian Students Participate in Spelling Bee

Students compete in the first annual Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) Cup Spelling Bee held earlier this year at the Sekolah Bogor Raya School in Bogor, located south of Jakarta. The school is one of six GAC teaching centers in Indonesia. About 450 students from schools throughout the region participated in the event, which was co-sponsored by ACT Education Solutions, Limited, Southeast Asia office. Officials awarded cash prizes and trophies to the top three winners.



AES Presents First Center of Excellence Award

More than 130 people participated in the annual Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) Summit, which is held each year in China. ACT Education Solutions, Limited (AES) hosts the event to update participants on new developments and to provide training in marketing and operations. During this year’s summit in Kunming, AES presented its first Center of Excellence Award to the Qingdao University GAC Center. The award honors GAC Approved Teaching Centers that have met the requirements of the license agreement and operations manual and demonstrated exemplary performance in several areas relating to delivery of the program, marketing, student support, teacher quality, graduation rates, and student enrollment at top-tier universities.
