EOS Goes Paperless and Real-TimeAn online version of the Educational Opportunity Service (EOS) for the ACT Assessment is now available, eliminating paper forms and wait times for all EOS customers. The online version of PLAN EOS was launched in February 2004. “Going completely online with EOS is a big step forward,” said Michael Hovland, ACT senior consultant for enrollment management services. “It boils down what might have been a several-week process to just a few minutes.” EOS helps match students with institutions by providing campuses with contact information of students who have taken either PLAN or the ACT Assessment. Students choose to participate or not. Names can be selected by a wide variety of demographic and academic parameters. Campuses can specify search criteria and receive real-time volume and cost estimates. Of course, an ACT staff member is always available, too. “The names are easy to segment and purchase, and the personal touch is reassuring. The staff is fantastic,” said Mary Spiegel, the director of admissions at the University of Alabama. To sign up for an EOS user name and password, go to www.act.org/eos.
