Assessment 101: How to Link Testing and Training

The American Society for Training and Development and ACT have partnered to create a live, online course called Assessment 101. In 10 weekly sessions, the course teaches trainers to evaluate commercially available skill assessments and set up an effective employee testing program for hiring, promotion, training, and certification.

“ACT has seen many companies greatly improve employee development practices by linking reliable, validated assessments with training,”said Dean Brown, vice president in ACT’s Workforce Development Division. “ACT and ASTD have similar missions in improving the skills of the workforce, so it makes sense for us to team up to provide this unique course for training professionals. We are very pleased to be engaged in this partnership with ASTD.”

First offered in September 2005, the course proved so popular that it is now scheduled six times a year. Successful participants earn a certificate of completion and one Continuing Education Unit from ASTD. The cost is $1,195 for ASTD members, $1,395 for non-members. Participants can register by phone, fax, mail, or e-mail, or online.
