New WorkKeys Job Bank Connects Employers with Prospects

Employers who use ACT’s National Career Readiness System can now post jobs and search for qualified candidates.

The newest feature of our website www.myWorkKeys.com is a job bank that launched this winter. It enables employers who accept the National Career Readiness Certificate to post job opportunities and search for qualified workers. A talent bank, which will allow individuals to post their credentials and search job postings in a national online job database, is also in the works.

“The job bank connects skilled, certified workers with job opportunities and gives employers access to a talent pool that’s defined by skill level,” said Don Carstensen, interim vice president, ACT workforce business development and marketing.

The user-friendly job bank allows employers to:

  • Post available positions with desired selection criteria.
  • Search for qualified prospective applicants based on those criteria, including desired National Career Readiness Certificate level.
  • Receive electronic applications from qualified applicants.
  • Communicate with applicants within the system.
  • Review performance statistics for each available position and total daily activity. Performance statistics include the certificate holders who directly apply for a position, the number of certificate holders the employer invites to apply for a position, and the number of active candidates.
  • Identify staff members who can administer job postings, prospects, and applicants. An employer can assign one or more employees to have administrative rights to the job bank. Specifically, this means giving identification and passwords to staff members, such as those in human resources, so they can post jobs and terminate postings, invite certificate holders to apply to a specific job via e-mail, and respond to job applicants through the system.

Employers and their authorized staff members can log on to the employer’s page, where they can:

  • Review all positions
Information is available for each of the employer’s positions, including the number of applicants in the system, the number of prospects the employer has identified, and the date the position was posted. Summary information—such as certificate level, years of experience, and application date—is available for each applicant. The system allows the employer or staff member to e-mail information to a prospect who meets or exceeds the criteria for the position.
  • Post a new position
A job title, position description, and salary can be entered for a position, with the option of including criteria for preferred location by state, job experience, minimum education level, and certificate level.
  • Search for qualified prospects
A talent bank for workers who meet criteria, such as certificate level, location, experience, and education, is available to employers.
  • Review statistics
They can check up on daily activity, including number of positions and current applicants.
  • Perform administrative tasks
This includes adding or deleting candidates.

The job and talent banks are part of ACT’s National Career Readiness System, which includes WorkKeys, a job skills assessment program, and the National Career Readiness Certificate, which is awarded based on WorkKeys scores in the core skill areas of Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics.

“The job bank holds great promise for helping employers identify qualified candidates, make better hiring decisions, and reduce the amount of time they spend on employee training,” said Carstensen.
