ACT Names New Board of Directors

ACT’s evolution from an organization serving solely college admissions to one addressing a broad range of education and workforce needs, has led the ACT state representatives and board of trustees to unanimously adopt a new set of articles and bylaws. Adoption of these new bylaws paved the way for a redefined governance and advising structure, including a new board of directors.

As of fall 2002, a 13-member board has replaced the 15-member board of trustees that had governed ACT since the early 1960s.

“The board’s composition reflects an evolution in ACT’s programs and services over the past two decades,” said ACT Chief Executive Officer Richard L. Ferguson. “The directors are distinguished individuals from both education and business and, as a group, are representative of the span of interests served by ACT’s growing array of programs and services.”

The ACT state organizations, a long-valued source of information and counsel, will continue to function as they have throughout ACT’s 43-year history. Each state organization has direct access to the corporation through a state representative, ensuring a voice in matters related to ACT programs and services in its state.

ACT’s new board of directors comprises the following:

Ferguson. “Like the board of directors, members of the advisory boards are accomplished professionals from a broad range of disciplines, including representatives from ACT’s state organizations.”
