Now Online, DISCOVER Enters a New Era of Career Counseling

DISCOVER®, the premier career guidance and information system from ACT, is now available on the Internet. The new online version for ninth graders through adults was launched in October. Another online offering for fifth to ninth graders had debuted in September. Both programs are easier to administer, more affordable, and more accessible than the traditional disk-based software. Built on DISCOVER’s 20-plus years of research and experience, these new programs take career counseling into a new era.

For users, Internet delivery means the program is available anytime from any computer with Internet access, allowing parents and others to be a part of the career planning process. For schools, Internet access means there is no software to install or maintain, so technical support expenses go down.

DISCOVER is a comprehensive developmental guidance system that helps individuals identify their strengths and needs, and build a plan based on their personal profiles. It offers research-based assessments of career-relevant interests, abilities, and job values to help them consider courses of study and career options that are good matches. Like all of DISCOVER, these new versions are based on extensive psychometric research and a comprehensive development guidance model.

For more information on DISCOVER, or to sign up for a free 30-day trial of the Internet or middle school versions, call (800) 498-6068, or send an email to discover@act.org
