The ACT Brings Opportunities to Korean StudentsACT is partnering with the Daekyo company to bring the ACT test to South Korea. Founded in 1976, Daekyo is a household name in South Korea. The private education company offers individualized instruction to thousands of students, from early childhood through university admission. Many of these students want to study abroad. Daekyo wants to encourage them to take the ACT if their goal is to study at a U.S. college or university. In August, ACT and Daekyo conducted a pilot administration of the ACT. Seven hundred forty Korean students took the test at four locations. They scored very well. One student scored a perfect Composite score of 36; four earned a 35. The average score for the group was higher than this years average Composite score in the United States. This is particularly notable because the students took the test in English. Daekyo used the results to award scholarships to top performing students. ACT Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Richard L. Ferguson, who was attending a meeting in Korea at the time, presented the awards in September. We are excited about the opportunities the ACT brings to Korean students, Ferguson said. Were looking forward to expanding our services to them through our partnership with Daekyo. Daekyo has signed an agreement to regularly administer the ACT.
