High School Students, Educators Attend Diversity Conference

High school students listened intently as staff members from The University of Iowa led a workshop on diversity issues during the “Diverse Paths, Shared Destiny” Diverse Leadership conference held September 19 on the ACT campus. Stedman Graham was the keynote speaker at the event, which drew 174 students, teachers, and counselors. Sessions included student workshops such as “Diversity Leadership Skills,” conducted by Akwi Nji-Dawson of the Academy for Scholastic and Personal Success in Cedar Rapids, and “Diversity Dialogues,” conducted by Monique DiCarlo and staff from The University of Iowa. Faculty sessions included “Cultural Competency,” conducted by Dr. Salome Raheim of the University of Iowa, and “Why Kids Are Failing,” led by Rae Jones of the ACT Midwest Office.
