Many colleges and universities across the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada want to attract more U.S. students.
One way of doing so is free and easy to obtainits an ACT college code. Many overseas institutions accept ACT test results submitted by prospective students, yet a lot of these institutions dont have ACT codes. Prospective students may not know a particular college or university outside the United States accepts ACT scores if they cant find an ACT code for the institution, and thus may not apply.
An ACT code simplifies the application process both for prospective students and for the institutions. Students can send their score reports to colleges and universities simply by providing the institutions ACT codes when they register for the test. Supplying codes also ensures that scores are delivered quickly to the institutions.
Having a code also eases the work of college admissions staff because they receive test scores directly from ACT, ensuring authenticity. ACT scores can be delivered via hard copy, CD-ROM, or the secure ACT Internet Reporting Option (AIRO).
Patrick Bourgeacq, director of international service relationships for ACT, is working with ACTs Institutional Services staff to assign codes.
With an ACT code, colleges and universities around the world can increase their exposure to the nearly one and a half million U.S. students who take the ACT every year, said Bourgeacq.
