Brown Awarded McGraw Prize in Education

Sarita E. Brown

Sarita E. Brown is one of three winners of the 2009 Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education for her work in accelerating educational success among Latinos.

She is president of Excelencia in Education and an ACT board member. She joins ACT board members Carl Cohn, Charles Reed, and Richard W. Riley, who are past winners of the prize.

The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education annually recognizes outstanding individuals who have dedicated themselves to enhancing learning in the United States and whose accomplishments are making a difference. A panel of judges from the education community chooses the honorees. Each winner receives a $25,000 gift and a bronze sculpture. The prize was established in 1988 to honor McGraw’s lifelong commitment to education and to mark the corporation’s 100th anniversary.
