Career Seekers' Frequently Asked Questions

General

Why should I get a National Career Readiness Certificate?

The Certificate is a portable credential that shows employers anywhere in the United States that you have attained a certain level of workplace employability skills in Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information, and Reading for Information. These workplace skills are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace. Employers may consider your certificate level, along with other educational and background information, when making employment decisions.

How do I qualify for The Certificate?

To qualify for a National Career Readiness Certificate, you must take the WorkKeys® Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information assessments.

Follow the four easy steps to earn The Certificate.

What do I do with The Certificate?

Share your National Career Readiness Certificate with employers to prove you have the skills for the job. See these steps on how to share your Certificate and sample resumes.

For how long can the National Career Readiness Certificate be verified by employers?

The Certificate can be verified by employers for up to five years from the date of the last test taken.

Where can I take assessments to get The Certificate or to qualify for a higher level?

Find a testing center near you.

How long does it take before results are posted to the site and eligibility made available?

If you have taken a computer-based WorkKeys assessment or requested Express Score®, your results will be available as soon as the results arrive in our data warehouse. Paper-and-pencil test results will become available about 10 days after your site has submitted your test for scoring.

Will other people have access to my test scores?

No; test scores and personal information, besides your name, are not made available, even when you share a certificate.

When you supply your unique certificate URL to others, they will only be able to view your name and the level of certificate for which you qualify and which you have chosen to share.

What if I did not score high enough on the WorkKeys assessments?

Sample tests and training options are available to help improve your WorkKeys test scores.
