Successfully Achieving College and Career Readiness for All Students

A course of self-paced tutorials designed for educators to strengthen their knowledge of the ACT® test. This course will help educators apply that knowledge by integrating instructional practices promoting college and career readiness for all students to help them maximize their performance on the ACT.

Interpreting ACT Test Data for Student Success

3 hrs.

This workshop supports educators’ analysis of the ACT. ACT expert consultants work with groups of educators to understand and analyze the data included in the ACT High School Report and the ACT Profile Report. Throughout the session, activities will allow participants to use insights gleaned from their ACT data to identify implications for curriculum, instruction, student support, and counseling/advising in their school system.

Tools of the Trade: Instructional Strategies that Support Rigorous Learning

3 hrs.

This workshop helps teachers increase the rigor and relevance of their instruction. Teachers will reflect on rigor and relevance as it applies to the four core content areas (English, mathematics, science, and social studies). Many instructional strategies will be modeled throughout the session as participants learn how rigor is reflected in activities, student assignments, and in-class assessments. Participants will leave with a valuable set of research-based instructional strategies to apply in their classrooms.

Begin with the End in Mind: Using College and Career Readiness Standards to Anchor Your K-12 Curriculum

3 hrs.

This workshop helps teachers understand the connections between their curriculum and the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards. The session begins with an overview of the ACT as a measure of college and career readiness. Participants will study the test specifications to understand the content assessed by the ACT and analyze key performance data to connect ACT scores with ACT College and Career Readiness Standards. Throughout the session, participants will participate in exercises designed to help them identify connections between the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards and their local standards and curricula.

This webinar helps educators understand and interpret the ACT High School Report (individual student report). It includes a general introduction of the ACT College and Career Readiness System, the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks, and the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards. The session centers on how counselors and other educators can use data from the ACT High School Report for counseling and advising students.

It includes a general introduction of the ACT College and Career Readiness System, the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks, and the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards. Assessment Literacy: Constructing Quality Multiple-Choice Items for   Assessments 

3.5 hrs.

This workshop creates opportunities for teachers to improve their skills designing high-quality multiple-choice items. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the role of assessments in the learning process, including both formative and summative assessments, and the strengths and limitations of various item types. The following topics will be covered: The Role of Assessment in the Learning Process, Creating High-Quality Multiple-Choice Stems, Creating High-Quality Multiple-Choice Options, and Analyzing Multiple-Choice Items.

This workshop helps educators understand when constructed-response tasks are appropriate assessments, gives them practice developing quality constructed-response tasks, and identifies ways to strengthen grading with score criteria and rubrics.
