Preparing individuals for college and career success is no small task – and it’s never been more important. This is why ACT is recognizing individuals who are making a positive impact on their communities through their efforts to advance college and career readiness.

The ACT College and Career Readiness Champions are individuals across the country who support ACT’s mission of education and workplace success.

The Champion Application Process

ACT State Councils will be accepting applications until October 31, 2018. Champions will be recognized with certificates and student champions will receive a $500 nonrenewable scholarship.

The 2019 Champions will be notified on or before January 31, 2019.

ACT State Organizations

ACT State Organizations represents over 11,800 education and workplace professionals from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

Workforce Champion Application

The ACT Workforce Champion has created or led a program that positively impacts their company and community through improved hiring practices, apprenticeships/internships, or community leadership.

  • Full-time employees in any role
  • Individual’s program or initiative has included community partnerships (education institutions, chambers of commerce, Work Ready Community, etc.)
  • Applicant includes examples of program’s return on investment and its ability to be replicated as a best practice

K-12 Champion Application

The ACT K-12 Champion is an individual who has created or led a program that positively impacts their organization and community through improved readiness for college and career opportunities.

  • Full-time employee at a K-12 school or district in any role
  • Individual’s program or initiative promotes college and career readiness
  • Examples of potential applicants include teachers, counselors, support staff, principals, curriculum directors, intervention specialists, district administrators

Postsecondary Champion Application

The ACT Postsecondary Champion is a person who assists individuals navigating their education and career journey.

  • Full-time professional making a difference for learners in their role at a postsecondary/higher education institution
  • Examples of potential applicants: individuals who work in recruitment, advising, education, retention, financial aid, placement, or other student services areas

You may submit your own application for this award, or you may submit an application on someone else’s behalf.

Student Champion Application*

The ACT Student Champion is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and a plan in place.

  • High school seniors who have overcome challenges and can articulate their education and/or career actions
  • At a minimum, students must have a composite ACT score of 22 on a single test date OR a Gold ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate®

Students will fill out their own applications.

*Applicants must be members of the graduating class of 2019 who have taken the ACT. 

Please note: If you are selected, the $500 nonrenewable scholarship will be sent directly to the postsecondary institution or program in which you are enrolled by May 2019. This may include any 2- or 4-year institution or certificate program, apprenticeship program, etc.
