FBI/CIA AGENTS investigate criminal violations of federal, state, and local laws and recommend prosecution if sufficient evidence is found. They investigate organized crime, public corruption, financial crime, fraud against the government, bribery, and copyright infringement. They also investigate civil rights violations, kidnapping, drug trafficking, bank robbery, air piracy, and terrorism. They gather facts and collect evidence, analyze evidence in labs, conduct interviews, examine records, record evidence and documents, and testify in court.

Entry Requirements

FBI AGENTS are expected to have a JD degree in Law, a bachelor's degree in accounting or a foreign language, or a bachelor's degree plus 3 years of work experience. CIA AGENTS must have at least a bachelor's degree for entry-level jobs and an advanced degree for non-clerical jobs such as overseas officers and intelligence analysts, (criminal justice and homeland security are common options for CIA agents).
