TEXTILE TECHNICIANS assist engineers in textile research, design, development, production, quality control, and sales and service. They help in the development of new ways to process fibers. Textile technicians analyze new fabrics for their construction, mildew resistance, and various other qualities, and suggest process improvements. Textile technicians classify textile and fibers according to quality. They prepare reports of test findings.

Entry Requirements

At least 2 years of formal education beyond high school is recommended for TEXTILE TECHNICIANS. In some cases a bachelor's degree is needed. Technical programs in textiles are offered in technical institutes, technical colleges, or community colleges. No special licensing or certification is required for textile technicians.
