Test Development Associate
Placement Programs/Development

Hi, my name is Theresa and I'm a test development associate in Placement Programs in ACT's Development area. I started at ACT in August 2006 as an editor and then moved to my present position in April 2008.

I was born in New York City but have spent most of my life in and around Chicago (with brief stints in Brighton, England, and Lawrenceville, New Jersey). I received a BA in English from Northwestern University and an MA in English from the University of Chicago. In Chicago I worked as a litigation paralegal and also had various editorial/writing jobs in academic publishing, with museums, and at an educational foundation.

I really enjoy my colleagues in Placement Programs. We are constantly reviewing each other's work to make sure that the test questions we're developing will be fair and sound, and I really appreciate how helpful and collegial folks are. I also enjoy the work itself. Although I develop test questions that evaluate a candidate's verbal abilities, I don't work with just one subject area. I get to learn about a wide range of topics in the sciences, social sciences, business, and humanities.

When not at work, I enjoy yoga, reading, vegetarian cooking, learning more about (and supporting) Iowa's visual and performing arts communities, exploring nearby parks, and spending time with my spouse and son.
