Minimum
Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in education research or related content area; and 7 years of related post-doctoral experience. Demonstrated competence and experience in educational research issues and education policy research. Experience conceptualizing research topics, designing data collection procedures, and implementing analyses; and successful leadership of research projects.
 
Essential Job Functions:   Develop and lead overall operational, planning and development activities of the National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) Research Department. Typical work-related activities include:
  • Determine the overall design and strategic plan for research agenda that advances NCEA's educational policy.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff members in the Research Department. Ensure that staff members work harmoniously with each other, as well as with staff in other parts of NCEA. Encourage staff members to increase their productivity and skills, and to work in teams with minimal supervision. Identify and mentor staff members for increased responsibility.
  • In consultation with senior management, maintain and prioritize the educational research agenda. Develop research proposals in support of that agenda.
  • Manage projects in the Research Department. Ensure that work is completed accurately and timely.
  • Continuously monitor and improve NCEA research department's efficiency in process and quality control procedures. Ensure all procedures are documented.
  • Serve on program committees and other groups. Work with other members of these groups to ensure that goals are achieved.
  • Consult with NCEA clients and with other NCEA staff; ensure that appropriate follow-up is carried out.
  • Advise the Assistant Vice President on education research issues, opportunities, or problems that could affect NCEA's programs.
  • Review materials for conference presentations and journal articles by NCEA staff.
  • Represent NCEA at meetings and conferences involving users, agencies, or professional organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in pertinent areas of education research.
  • Conduct research on education issues related to NCEA's programs and services, and report results in presentations to professional conferences.
