IOWA CITY, IowaACT will deliver web-based Certified Medical Manager exams for the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM). The exams will be delivered through the nationwide network of ACT Centers beginning in April 2006.
PAHCOM's Certified Medical Manager exam is a comprehensive three-hour examination that covers 18 areas crucial to medical management, including human resources, health care law, and financial planning. PAHCOM was founded in 1988 to provide a support system to the managers hospitals, medical associations, medical societies, vendors and other entities.
Web-based testing allows certification-seekers to take proctored exams across the country at 225 ACT Center locations, flexible test scheduling and instant scoring.
"Hundreds of our members have been unable to travel to the three or four testing sites we provide during the year," said Richard Blanchette, executive director of PAHCOM. "Now they can take the Certified Medical Manager exam in or near their hometown whenever it's convenient."
"ACT Centers are designed to help national accreditation organizations and distance learning institutions reach as many members as possible with secure, convenient testing environments," said Tom Saterfiel, vice president of ACT.
"Certified medical managers are crucial to the operation of medical offices, and making certification exams more accessible will help the whole industry serve its clients."
