EDUCAUSE Vice President Diana Oblinger Named to ACT's Board of Directors

IOWA CITY, Iowa—Dr. Diana G. Oblinger, vice president of EDUCAUSE, has been named to the board of directors at ACT, Inc., the education and workforce development organization based in Iowa City, Iowa. EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.

"Dr. Oblinger is well known for her leadership in teaching and learning," said ACT's CEO, Richard L. Ferguson. "She brings to the board important insights into the use of technology in the education of students."

Dr. Oblinger also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Adult and Higher Education at North Carolina State University. She has held positions in business and academia, including Vice President for Information Resources and the Chief Information Officer for the University of North Carolina system. She was on the faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Michigan State University. She also served as Executive Director of Higher Education at Microsoft Corporation.

Dr. Oblinger is co-author of the book What Business Wants from Higher Education, which received the 1999 Frandson Award for best literature in continuing education. She holds three degrees from Iowa State University: a B.S. in Botany, an M.S. in Plant Breeding and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Cytogenetics.

ACT's Board of Directors is composed of 14 members, including representatives from education and business. Best known for the ACT college admissions exam, the organization offers a rich array of programs and services in education and workforce development, including ACT's College Readiness System (including EXPLORE, PLAN and ACT), its National Career Readiness System based on the ACT WorkKeys system, the nationwide ACT Center network, and licensure and certification services for professional organizations.
