IOWA CITY, IowaMartin Scaglione has been named president and chief operating officer of ACT's Workforce Development Division. He will oversee development, sales and marketing of the company's workforce-related products and services.
"More than ever, businesses need tools to help them find skilled employees while job seekers require ways to connect and communicate their skills for hiring and promotion," said Richard L. Ferguson, CEO and chairman of the board at ACT. "Martin has been in the trenches, holding various senior management positions for nearly 20 years and has a superior understanding of business needs. We're happy to have him leading our Workforce Development Division."
ACT's Workforce Development Division is responsible for products and services related to increasing the skills and employment opportunities of the workforce:
Scaglione previously served as vice president, strategic initiatives, for HNI Corp. (previously known as HON INDUSTRIES), the largest office furniture and hearth products manufacturer in North America. Earlier positions include vice president of sales, dealer and channel development at Allsteel Inc.; executive vice president, chief operating officer and managing director of Bosch Appliances; and various senior management positions with the Maytag Corp. He received his bachelor's degree in economics and marketing at Drake University in Des Moines.
"During the last two decades, ACT has applied its expertise in assessment and development to the workforce, and it is on the forefront of shaping tomorrow's business environment," Scaglione said. Scaglione lives in Iowa City with his wife, Lisa. His daughter Virginia, 21, is a student at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.; and his son Joseph, 24, of Norfolk, Va., serves in the U.S. Navy.
