ACT Launches College and Career Readiness Campaign

IOWA CITY, Iowa—ACT today launches an annual College and Career Readiness Campaign to celebrate achievement and create awareness around the goal of college and career readiness for all. As one component of the campaign, ACT will work with top state officials to recognize efforts in advancing college and career readiness within their state through a new annual awards program.

Seven states are participating in the campaign in this first year: Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. The first state event will be held today in Montgomery, Alabama.

“We are excited to stand with states to recognize leaders in advancing or embodying successful readiness for college and career,” said Jon Whitmore, chief executive officer of ACT. “More exciting is that each state announcement is just one component of a campaign that will highlight college and career readiness efforts across the education and workforce continuum.”

States participating in the campaign may nominate individuals in any of the four national award categories honoring an exemplary employer, community college, high school, and student. State nominations will be announced at a state event. A national selection committee will then select one outstanding example per category across all states. The campaign will conclude at the ACT National Gala on College and Career Readiness in Washington, D.C. in May.

“This campaign will showcase the exemplary work happening across states to advance the goal of college and career readiness for all,” said Ranjit Sidhu, ACT’s senior vice president of strategic initiatives. “It will also provide our stakeholders with a preview of ACT’s vision for the future and the innovative technologies we have in development.”
