IOWA CITY, Iowa—Rich Patz, ACT chief measurement officer, has been elected vice president of the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME).

NCME is the leading association of professionals involved in assessment, evaluation, testing, and other aspects of education measurement. NCME members include university faculty, test developers, state and federal testing and research directors, professional evaluators and testing specialists. NCME works to provide services to education communities and to ensure fair and equitable assessment to all students.

“The election of Dr. Patz speaks to the respect NCME members have for his expertise,” said Jon Whitmore, ACT chief executive officer. “Rich understands the tremendous difference high-quality assessments can make in helping students succeed in school and eventually in life. The honor of serving the profession through NCME leadership is one more indication of Rich’s commitment to educational excellence.”

Patz assumed the office of vice president last week at the organization’s annual meeting. He will become president of NCME in 2015.
