What Applied Mathematics–Extended Measures

The broader scope of Applied Mathematics–Extended positions the test to measure outcomes for:

  • Beginning ABE Literacy
  • Beginning Basic Education
  • Low Intermediate Basic Education

This will enable the WorkKeys system to serve as a measure of progress by individuals who possess virtually any level of skill in mathematics.

The original WorkKeys Applied Mathematics assessment produces scores ranging from Level 3 to Level 7. The Applied Mathematics—Extended assessment reports scores in the same range and also produces Level 1 and Level 2 scores.

Applied Mathematics–Extended, Level 1: People scoring in this range can:

  • recognize whole numbers
  • count using single-digit numbers
  • discern the difference between high numbers and low numbers
  • add and subtract using single-digit numbers
  • recognize when numbers are in a sequence
  • add a missing number to the sequence

Applied Mathematics–Extended, Level 2: People who score in this range can:

  • count using three-digit numbers
  • add and subtract using three-digit numbers
  • multiply and divide using numbers up to 12
  • identify simple fractions
  • multiply and divide using two-digit whole numbers
