Understanding WorkKeys Scores
A WorkKeys score is determined by the number of questions answered correctly. There is no penalty for guessing. The skill level descriptions illustrate the skills that you have achieved and can apply on the job or in training.
WorkKeys Skill Level Descriptions
The WorkKeys skill level descriptions are available on the score report.
Most WorkKeys foundational assessments have Level and Scale Scores, with the exception of Business Writing, Listening, and Writing. Both types of WorkKeys scores indicate an individual's ability to perform more complex skills as the scores increase.
Level Scores:
Employers use level scores to decide who to hire and promote. Level scores are based on WorkKeys job profiles—a snapshot of the skills needed for a particular job.
Scale Scores: Scale scores are used by educators to show growth in skills over time. Scale scores are not used for hiring or promotion decisions. See the WorkKeys Scale Score Interpretation Guide (PDF; 1 page, 11KB) for more information.
