Work Tasks
- Are members of a space shuttle crew that orbits the Earth and flies to space stations
- Study and photograph the Earth, stars, and planets from space
- Do research on space exploration
- Make sure all missions are carried out as planned and in safety
- Work in classrooms, flight simulators, space shuttles, and for NASA
- Work with many special instruments, onboard systems, spacecraft, spacesuits, and emergency equipment

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in engineering, physical science, biological science, or math; 3 years of related, professional experience with progressive responsibilities; in good health, a US citizen
- Employers Prefer: Team players and highly skilled generalists with just the right amount of individuality and self-reliance to be effective crew members
- Certification/Licensing: A pilot's license may be required.
