Work Tasks
- Cash checks for bank customers, put money into and take money out of accounts
- Check signatures and count cash they give to, or take from, the customer
- Count cash before the bank opens and after it closes and list amounts on forms
- Keep records of money taken from and put into each account
- Work indoors behind a counter or at drive-in windows
- Work with computers, calculators, adding machines, bank forms, ATMs, and bank cards

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma and on-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A 2-year degree and accounting skills or experience handling cash
- Skills/Courses: College courses include math, accounting, bookkeeping, economics, and public speaking; must be able to deal with the public.
- Certification/Licensing: Tellers must be bonded.
