Work Tasks
- Help civil engineers to plan and build highways, bridges, dams, and other structures
- Help to draw the plans and maps for structures
- Estimate the costs and decide what materials to use in construction
- Check to see that the projects are being built correctly and according to codes
- Work indoors in offices and labs and outside at construction sites
- Work with surveying and mapping tools, charts, blueprints, calculators, cement, steel, concrete, and other building materials

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma and courses in engineering technology
