Work Tasks

• Keep computers and computer equipment in working order
• Find out what is causing problems and resolve them
• Put in and test new equipment
• Keep records of what they do and fill out time and expense reports
• Work indoors in computer rooms at various businesses, may travel from one job to another
• Use computer equipment, repair manuals, soldering equipment, and voltmeters and other testing tools

• Minimum for Entry: Courses in repairing computers or electronics

• Certification/Licensing: Certification is available for electronics technicians after training and passing a test.
