• Plan ways for businesses to use computers to do jobs
• Talk with managers about computer programs and equipment to use for the job
• Plan the computer system using math models and samples
• Make charts and drawings of the plan that others can understand
• Work in offices for data processing firms, banks, insurance companies, and for the government
• Use statistics, reports, charts, computer equipment, data, and printouts

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: Experience in computer systems analysis equal to a 4-year degree in a computer-related field
• Employers Prefer: A master's degree in computer science or a master's of business administration with courses in computer systems management
• Skills/Courses: Experience as a programmer is usually required, plus technical knowledge, communication, and other interpersonal skills.
• Certification/Licensing: Certification is available.
