Work Tasks
- Help people with disabilities find work and be more independent
- Make plans to get treatment for the person and give them individual or group counseling
- Interview the person and their family, look at school and medical records, meet with doctors and employers to discuss the person
- Make plans for medical care, job training, and job placement
- Work in offices or from home and travel to hospitals, treatment centers, job sites, or other places to help the client
- Work with medical records, personality and interest tests, financial records, job information, training programs, and forms

- $38,000 average per year ($18.25 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in rehabilitation services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field
- Employers Prefer: A master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling and guidance, or counseling psychology
- Skills/Courses: College courses include study in an accredited counselor education program.
- Certification/Licensing: Many employers require rehabilitation counselors to be nationally certified.
