Work Tasks

• Help customers open accounts for services such as cable TV, utilities, etc.
• Tell customers about new types of products and how to use them
• Listen to customer problems and answer their questions
• Tell the people who make the product what the problems are
• Work indoors in offices for all kinds of businesses
• Work with telephones, computers, office equipment, reports, and different products

• $50,000 average per year ($24.00 per hour)

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma, office skills, and on-the-job training
• Employers Prefer: A 2-year degree in office practices and able to speak a foreign language
• Skills/Courses: Training on customer service and phone skills; on products and services or common customer problems; on the use and operation of computer software; and on company policies and regulations.
