Work Tasks
- Collect types of grains needed for the day's brew
- Manage and oversee workers in the brew-house
- Prepare and steep grain into mash
- Strain the mash, boil and add hops to the cooked liquid, then cool and add yeast
- Work in plants, breweries, microbreweries, and brewpubs
- Work with tubs, kettles, heat exchangers, fermenters, and filters, and with grains, hops, yeast, and other beer ingredients

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: Several years of work experience in a brewery
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree in brewing science or related field and an apprenticeship in brewing
- Skills/Courses: College courses include chemistry, math, physics, biology, food technology, brewing science, business management, and public speaking.
