Work Tasks
- Install and fix elevators, escalators, and other similar equipment
- Put in electrical wires and controls at each floor and at the main control panel
- Put together elevator cars, elevator doors, and door frames
- Test and maintain equipment to keep it working well
- Work indoors for elevator manufacturers, elevator repair contractors, the government, and businesses that do elevator repair
- Use blueprints, hand and power tools, testing equipment, elevator frames and cars, electrical wires and controls, computer controls, and scaffolding

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: An apprenticeship in elevator repair
