Work Tasks
- Wear and show the latest fashion designs to people who are interested in buying them
- Show and talk about certain features of the clothing
- Appear at fashion shows, trade shows, in magazines, and in TV commercials
- Pose for photographers in front of cameras
- Work in TV and photography studios, in fashion shows, and for clothing designers and fashion magazines
- Work with portfolios, photos, resumes, clothes, makeup, and hair styling products
Salary, Size & Growth
- $35,000 average per year ($16.75 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: An attractive physical appearance, plus a good portfolio showing photos of modeling work
- Employers Prefer: For professional fashion models, previous experience is helpful, along with being the height and weight preferred by modeling agencies.
- Skills/Courses: Modeling schools teach students how to pose for photographers, how to walk, the art of makeup application, and about hair styling and clothing. Students may also be trained in acting, voice, and dance.
