Work Tasks
- Protect fish, birds, and animals from people who hunt them illegally
- Watch people who are hunting and fishing to make sure they follow the law
- Give warnings and tickets to people who commit minor violations, and arrest those who commit major ones
- Collect information about animals and their habitats and suggest hunting and fishing seasons and laws
- Work outside for federal, state, and local government agencies
- Work with office reports, tickets, computers, patrol boats, off-road vehicles, scuba diving equipment, firearms, and forensic equipment

- $54,000 average per year ($26.00 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree in Wildlife/Fisheries Management, Natural Resource Management, Law Enforcement, or related experience
- Skills/Courses: On-the-job training in law enforcement and firearms
- Certification/Licensing: A law enforcement certificate may be required.
