Work Tasks
- Cut and arrange flowers
- Make bouquets, wreaths, sprays, and dish gardens
- Follow written orders which tell what color and type of flower to use, what the flowers are for, the price, and where the flowers are to be delivered
- May sell other items, take orders, and do bookkeeping
- Work for retail floral shops or own their own shops
- Work with all types of plants and flowers, knives, floral wire, foam bases, vases, pots, office forms, and bookkeeping records

- $40,500 average per year ($19.50 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A certificate of 2-year degree from a vocational/technical school or community college
- Skills/Courses: Courses in floral design, floriculture, horticulture, and ornamental horticulture.
