Work Tasks
- Select, cut, fit, and install glass, and glass substitutes such as plastics, granite, and marble
- Use a crane to lift heavy pieces of glass and put the glass in position by hand
- Seal glass in place with putty, gaskets, clips, and molding
- Put in shower doors, bathtubs, mirrors, and glass for table tops and display cases
- Work outdoors, sometimes on scaffolds, for glazing suppliers, glass shops, and wholesale distributors of products made with glass
- Work with glass, glazing knives, clamps, suction cups, hand tools, power tools, glass sealants, cranes, hoists, ladders, scaffolds, and computers

- $40,000 average per year ($19.25 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A high school diploma, 18 years of age or older, and a glazier apprenticeship
- Skills/Courses: courses in applied math, shop, and mechanical drawing. Must be able to measure, cut, and install materials
- Certification/Licensing: Three levels of certification are available.
