Work Tasks
- Study ways to handle hazardous materials
- Take material samples and send them to be tested
- Teach others how to handle hazardous materials and how to clean up spills
- Inspect businesses to make sure they handle hazardous materials safely
- Work for the government, waste management companies, utility and engineering companies, and manufacturers
- Work with hazardous waste materials such as chemical and nuclear waste, lab equipment, testing instruments, and protective clothing

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma and on-the-job training

- Certification/Licensing: Licensing is required in some states.
