Work Tasks
- Run the day-to-day operation of a hotel and try to make the most money they can for the hotel
- Set the rules for housekeeping and decide what foods to serve if there is a restaurant
- Train and oversee hotel workers, order food and hotel supplies, and make reports for hotel owners
- Take care of advertising the hotel for special events
- Work indoors in large and small hotels and motels all over the country
- Work with computers, personnel records, room rates, financial statements, purchasing orders, reservations, and room assignments

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 2-year degree in hotel management or the equivalent
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree or higher in hospitality management
- Skills/Courses: College courses include hotel administration, accounting, economics, marketing, housekeeping, food service management, catering, hotel maintenance, computerized reservation systems, and business management.
- Certification/Licensing: Certification is available.
