Work Tasks
- Look at the skills needed for different jobs and what workers do in those jobs
- Write descriptions of the duties, training, and skills each job needs
- Study current data from employers and make reports and flow charts
- Watch workers and talk with them to figure out what physical and mental skills they need for the job
- Work for labor unions, consulting firms, hospitals, schools, banks, real estate, finance and insurance firms, personnel agencies, and the government
- Work with skills inventories, job descriptions, government publications, statistical charts, human resources information, and computers

- $61,000 average per year ($29.25 per hour)
- A medium occupation (102,800 workers in 2010)
- Expected to grow rapidly (2.4% per year)
Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: A 4-year degree
- Employers Prefer: A 4-year degree in human resources or industrial and labor relations
- Skills/Courses: Experience or training in the jobs being analyzed is important. Computer skills are important.
