Work Tasks
- Help chefs and cooks in the kitchen
- Get cooking equipment out and measure food for recipes
- Clean, peel, and slice fruits and vegetables and make salads
- Set tables, clean cooking equipment and take out trash
- Work indoors in kitchens for restaurants, hotels, schools, government and factory cafeterias, grocery stores, private clubs, hospitals, and nursing homes
- Work with fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, dishwashers, brooms, mops, and cleaning tools

- $22,000 average per year ($10.50 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training and a health certificate
- Employers Prefer: A high school diploma
