Work Tasks

• Make and test laser devices
• Look at blueprints, layouts, and sketches, and talk to engineers to find out how to put parts together
• Test the laser and report results to engineers
• Repair broken laser equipment
• Work in research labs and assembly areas for the military and companies that make lasers and precision instruments
• Work with laser devices and their parts, leak detectors, safety equipment, precision electronic and optical instruments, test data, and reports

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: A high school diploma and courses in electrical/electronic technology
