• Conduct research into plant and animal life and how they interact with one another
• Design math and data models for testing bioinformatics theories
• Develop databases for testing gene functions
• Manage lab information and data storage
• Work indoors in labs and offices for corporations, drug companies, hospitals, and the government
• Work with lab equipment, and computers and scientific software
