- Store patient medical records, insurance information, and other records
- Make sure all privacy laws and rules are followed and that forms are filled out correctly
- Make sure that information they have about patients is up-to-date
- Make sure employees do their jobs well, serve on medical staff committees, and do research in healthcare
- Work for hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, medical group practices, research centers, public health departments, health insurance companies, the government, and universities
- Work with medical records, reports, budgets, work schedules, evaluations, microfilm, computers, and statistics
