Work Tasks

• Set up and run equipment to show movies
• Run the sounds of the movie so they match what is being shown on the screen
• Use a rewinding machine and put the reels in the right order while the movie is playing
• Fix the film if it breaks and maintain the movie equipment so it works correctly
• Work indoors in a raised booth at the back of the movie theater
• Work with movie projectors, audio equipment, film rewind machines, and reels of film

• $30,500 average per year ($14.75 per hour)
• A small occupation (9,400 workers in 2010)
• Expected to grow slowly (0.1% per year)

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: A 1-2 year apprenticeship
• Certification/Licensing: A license and union membership may be required.
