Work Tasks
- Fix all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), motorcycles, four-wheelers, and other equipment with small engines
- Keep small engines repaired so they run well and do not have problems
- Use testing equipment to find out what the problems are
- Take apart engines and other parts and fix or replace parts which do not work
- Work in repair shops for motorcycle dealers, the government, motorcycle manufacturers, and firms which make motorcycles to order
- Work with motorcycles, motor scooters, all-terrain vehicles, personal watercraft, power equipment, hand and power tools, computerized engine analyzers, testing devices, welding equipment, and hoists to lift heavy motorcycles

- $37,000 average per year ($17.75 per hour)

Education/Training
- Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
- Employers Prefer: A 2-year degree in small engine technology
- Skills/Courses: Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of 2- and 4-stroke engines and basic electronics
- Certification/Licensing: A motorcycle driver's license is required.
