Work Tasks

• Cover walls and ceilings of rooms with wall paper, fabric, vinyl, or other materials
• Remove old wall paper, cut the covering into strips the correct size and match the pattern of the strips
• Roll the glue onto the back of the covering and place the strips on the wall
• Smooth and trim the strips and wipe off extra glue
• Work for construction companies, apartment management companies, hotels, business offices, or their own decorating business
• Work with wall paper, fabric, vinyl, rollers, cutters, brushes, steamers, razor knives, solvents, glue, paste, sealing materials, ladders, and scaffolds

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: On-the-job training
• Employers Prefer: A high school diploma and an apprenticeship in paper hanging
