Work Tasks

• Show people where to park or park their cars for them
• Collect payment for the time the cars were on the lot
• Hand out tickets stamped with the time so they know how long the car has been parked
• Watch parked cars to make sure there is no theft or damage and keep records of the number of cars parked and money collected
• Work in parking garages or open lots, city and private parking lots, hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, shopping centers, office buildings, airports, the government, or for special events like concerts and festivals
• Work with time clocks, numbered claim tickets, money, cars, keys, and cleaning equipment

• $25,000 average per year ($12.00 per hour)
• A medium occupation (124,600 workers in 2010)
• Expected to grow slowly (0.4% per year)

Education/Training

• Minimum for Entry: A driver's license
• Employers Prefer: A high school diploma and a good driving record.
